A beautifully distinctive honey from the native beech forests of Kaikōura.
Pī Ākau Honeydew Beech Honey is harvested from our hives on Inland Road, Kaikōura, where our bees forage amongst the surrounding beech forests. Unlike traditional floral honeys, Honeydew Beech Honey begins with sweet droplets of honeydew found on the bark of beech trees, which the bees collect and transform into this rich, deeply flavoured honey.
Distinctively Different
Dark and smooth with a rich, malty sweetness, Honeydew Beech has a flavour all of its own. If you have spent time walking through native beech forest, you may have even spotted or tasted those tiny droplets of honeydew straight from the trees.
Naturally Complex
Honeydew honey is known for its naturally occurring oligosaccharides and complex composition, making it an interesting alternative to traditional nectar based honeys.
Incredibly Versatile
This is a brilliant everyday honey for both sweet and savoury dishes. Stir it into tea or smoothies, use it in marinades and stir fries, drizzle it over yoghurt or desserts, or swap it for maple syrup over pancakes and waffles.
